Ostrzyce Spa

This review is only for the restaurant and the food that we have had in it today! In short, this is the worst culinary experience that we've had in Poland so far. The Red Barszcz that I've got was absolutely dreadful! So salty that I wasn't able to eat more than three spoons of it and it didn't have any taste of the beetroot that I love so much. The sauerkraut and mushroom dumplings that followed were incredibly bland and tasteless. I've hardly found any mushrooms in the three out of eight served at all... And the dough was heavy and chewy. For the main dish I've ordered the chicken de volaille. Luckily the meat was nicely prepend and fresh. But the potatoes "po kaszubsku" were again dreadful. Tasteless and overcooked. Even pieces of bacon that was tossed on top of them seemed to be boiled? and not fried and didn't have any taste at all. How can you ruin bacon??? My wife ordered beef carpaccio for the starter and fried cod with mix of veg for main. I've heard of freezing the beef for the carpaccio before, but if you want to serve the bone stiff frozen meat to your guests, put a note in your menu that that's how it's going to be served. The meat itself was incredibly tasteless. Again, I couldn't believe it. Most of the people would think that I'm some crazy complainer at this point, but there's more. The mix of vegetables that came with the cod was the "star" of the meal. Coocked from frozen - and I won't belive that it was any other way! So overcooked and bland, you can not mistake it for freshly cooked. And that's sad, especially that cauliflower and broccoli are in season! Fish was edible, but tasteless again. Nobody from the kitchen staff or the waitress bother to enquire why the food is going back to the kitchen hardly touched. I've complained about the poor quality of the food to the waitress after paying the bill, but she didn't offer any explanation or even to pass the information to the kitchen staff (I highly doubt that they have a Chef), she just stood there terrified until we left. Very bad experience overall. I advise everyone to avoid this restaurant. Don't be fooled by the photos on the website like we were. The simplest shack by the side of the road in Poland will offer you much better and tastier food.

This hotel has all the right elements to make it a 4.5 world-class; amazing location, great amenities (pool, sauna, spa), kind staff, kids play area, across the street from the beach, close to other activities and awesome "smażalnie ryb"... but it's a mess and not polished, & that takes away from it's appeal when it shouldn't. The rooms are sparse & simple but tastefully & well-furnished. The beds are comfortable with clean white sheets. The housekeeping staff does an amazing job and the rooms are spotless. There is free TV and WiFi. They include free water and soaps/shampoos. BUT... there is no air conditioning anywhere in the hotel but the restaurant, and we're in the middle of a heat wave. Asked for fans, still waiting to hear back. Can open windows but there are no screens on the windows so you can bake in a hot room at night or, have a bug infestation. We chose to close the windows to avoid bugs/mosquitoes and didn't sleep all night because the baby was hot and cried all night. The rooms are set up for AC but it's not working. The free breakfast is very nice and the outside patio with kids playground let's you eat while kids play. BUT there is no beach access from the hotel and you have to go to another hotel's beach (not sure if that's apparent no has kicked us out yet). There is no concierge or room service of any kind and the front desk does not answer in late evening or at night even if you call... which also brings up the fact that there are NO phones in the rooms to contact front desk, housekeeping or the non-existent room service. AT ALL. If you want to ask anything you have to call from your cell phone... kind of hard to do if you're visiting out of country and do not want astronomical phone charges. Overall, needs a serious identity check!
